曲折的现代美术:艺术运动社第一届展览会始末

The Tortuous Modern Art: the Beginning and End of the First Exhibition of the Art Movement Society

摘要: 1929 年 4 月 10 日,“教育部第一次全国美展”在上海新普育堂开幕。展览期间,徐悲鸿发表了《惑》一文,表达了对塞尚、马蒂斯的不屑和拒绝。徐志摩则以《我也“惑”》作为回应,认为应正确对待塞尚、马蒂斯等人的价值。作为原全国美展筹备委员会的核心成员,林风眠虽然同样支持表现画风,但出人意料地并没有发表任何言论来声援在艺术见解上有着相同观点的徐志摩,反而在 1929 年 5 月 24 日以“艺术运动社”的名义举办了“艺术运动社第一届展览会”。本文希望借由举办这次展览的背景、组织者的动机、作品的呈现、学界的评论等方面讨论这次展览的内在意义,并以此为线索考察 20 世纪早期中国美术在现代化进程中所遭遇的问题。

Abstract: On April 10, 1929, "The First National Art Exhibition of the Ministry of Education" was opened in St.Josephs’ Asylum for the poor. During the exhibition, Xu Beihong published an article entitled "Confused", expressing his disdain and rejection of Cezanne and Matisse. Xu Zhimo responded with "I Am Also Confused", thinking that the value of Cezanne and Matisse should be correctly treated. As a core member of the former National Art Exhibition preparatory committee, Lin Fengmian also supported the style of expressive painting, but surprisingly did not make any comments to support Xu Zhimo, who shared the same views on art. Instead, he held “The First Exhibition of the Art Movement Association” on May 24, 1929. This paper hopes to discuss the intrinsic significance of the exhibition from the aspects of the background of the exhibition, the motivation of the organizer, the presentation of the works, and the comments of the academic circle, and to investigate the problems encountered by Chinese art in the modernization process in the early 20th century.
