The Generative Logic of Jaeggi’s Critique of Forms of Life
摘要: 拉赫尔·耶吉的生活形式批判理论为当代社会批判提供了一条经由规范性重构的全新路径。该理论以“关系性主体性”为出发点,在回应现代主体性危机的背景下,通过对“异化”概念的反本质主义重释,逐步建构出以“生活形式”为核心批判对象的理论框架。在耶吉看来,生活形式是一种兼具本体论结构与规范性维度的社会实践集合,其失败体现为规范诉求在实践中的系统性阻滞。为克服传统社会批判过度依赖外部规范的困境,耶吉提出“内在批判”与“学习过程”作为核心方法论路径,强调从生活形式内部生成批判契机与变革动力。尽管该理论继承了马克思的批判精神,但其规范性转向也重塑了对结构性剥削与激进革命的理解。当代社会批判的有效展开,有赖于在结构批判与规范反思之间维持张力,从而保有批判的锋芒与实践的活力。
Abstract:
Rahel Jaeggi’s critique of forms of life offers a new pathway for contemporary social critique through the reconstruction of normativity. Grounded in the concept of relational subjectivity, this theory responds to the crisis of modern subjectivity by reinterpreting the notion of alienation in a non-essentialist way, gradually constructing a theoretical framework that takes forms of life as its core object of critique. In Jaeggi’s view, forms of life are social practices that combine ontological structure and normative dimensions. Their failure is manifested in the systematic blockage of normative claims within practice. To overcome the dilemma of traditional social critique’s excessive reliance on external norms, Jaeggi introduces immanent critique and learning processes as core methodological approaches, emphasizing the emergence of critical impulses and transformative forces from within forms of life themselves. Although this theory inherits the critical spirit of Marx, its normative turn also reshapes the understanding of structural exploitation and radical revolution. The effective development of contemporary social critique depends on maintaining a tension between structural critique and normative reflection, thereby preserving both the sharpness of critique and its practical vitality.
