An Analysis of Wang Fu’s View Concept of Moral Education in the Mid and Late Eastern Han Dynasty
摘要: 王符在《潜夫论·德化篇》中阐述“道”“德”“教”“化”在敦化性情、化民成俗中的不同作用,进而提出以“道德”为本的社会教育主张。道德与教化相比,具有本源性和基础性,正如“民心”与“民事”一样,二者主次分明,各有其地位和特点。对于为数众多的普通人来说,君主及其官员承担着教化民众的重要责任。同时,执政者本身的品德言行也深刻地影响着社会教育的效果,故而君王当以古为鉴,效仿古圣先贤,以“道德”为教化之本,务必让人们忠厚正直、心性纯良,以拯救“衰世”之弊。
Abstract: Wang Fu’s book of Dehua Chapter of Qianfulun(《潜夫论·德化篇》) puts forward the idea of social education based on “Tao”(道) “De”(德) “Jao”(教) “Hua”(化) by demonstrating the different functions of moral education in transforming people into customs. Compared with humanize, morality has its origin and foundation. Just like “ the people’s hearts” and "the business of the people", both are distinct from each other in internal and external aspects, and each has its own status and characteristics. For a large number of ordinary people, the monarch and its officials bear the important responsibility of educating the people. Their moral words and deeds have a profound impact on the effect of social education. Therefore, the monarch should learn from the past, imitate the ancient sages, and take morality as the foundation of education. We must make people loyal, honest and pure, so as to save the disadvantages of decline.
